Removal

NOTE: Refer to Notes On Brake Booster. Description and Operation

1. Operate the brake pedal several times until vacuum in the brake booster is reduced.

CAUTION:
^ Seal of diaphragm travel sensor may be sucked into the brake booster if vacuum present.
^ If this is the case the brake booster has to be replaced.

2. Unplug connector of BAS diaphragm travel sensor (A7/7x1)
3. Remove circlip (16b)
- Use a suitable tool, e.g. angled marking tool (arrow)
4. Pull out BAS diaphragm travel sensor (A7/7b1).
5. Replace O-ring.

Installation
6. Install in the reverse order, noting the following:
- Insert O-ring in brake booster groove and pay attention to correct seat.
- Replace circlip (16b)
- Ensure circlip (16b) is properly positioned.
- Pay attention to different circlips of manufacturers.
- Rub a little methylated spirits into front of diaphragm travel sensor (A7/7b1) so that O-ring slides correctly when inserted.

Inspecting
7. Start engine ID Operate brake several times.
8. Switch off engine.
9. Check diaphragm travel sensor for leaks.
- It should not be possible to hear any air flow noises from the brake booster.
