Lighting - Fog Lamp Bulb(s) Inoperative

Model 170 without Sport Package
H1 Bulb For Fog Lamp Does Not Function
If you encounter instances in Model 170 vehicles, which are not equipped with the Sport Package, of the H1 bulb for the fog lamp not functioning, please perform the following procedure to replace the bulb socket.
1. Remove fog lamp from the vehicle as per WIS document AR82.10-P-5103C
2. Remove the new H-1 bulb socket from the new harness by cutting the yellow and brown wires at indicated points from the Electric Cable (Figure 1).
3. Discard the rest of the Electric Cable, it is no longer needed.
4. Even the length of yellow and brown wire (A, Figure 2).
5. Remove approximately 1/4-inch of insulation at the H-1 bulb socket yellow and brown wire ends (A, Figure 2).
6. Cut off the non-operational H-1 bulb socket from the fog lamp assembly. Approximately 3-inches of gray and brown wire should remain inside fog lamp assembly.
7. Note: The part cut off is shown above (B, Figure 2).
8. Remove approximately 1/4-inch of insulation from the gray and brown wire ends coming from the fog lamp assembly.
9. Connect the new H-1 bulb socket to the fog lamp assembly. Connect the yellow wire to the gray wire, and the brown wire to the brown wire (Figure 3). Using the two cable connectors shown above (C, Figure 2) crimp the wires together as indicated above.
10. Reinstall the H-1 bulb socket into fog lamp assembly.
11. Reinstall fog lamp.
