Trunk / Liftgate Shock / Support: Service and Repair

1 Clamp gas-operated strut in vice on drill press.


NOTE: Ensure that piston rod points away from body and no other persons are in the area of the extended piston rod axis.







2 Drill hole with 3 mm dia. bit in gas-operated strut according to dimension a, approx. 20 mm from bottom of strut gas-operated (arrow). Drill with the least possible pressure.
3 Unclamp gas-operated strut and pump gas-operated strut empty by pressing in piston rod a number of times. Dispose of used oil according to waste disposal laws.
4 Dispose of gas-operated strut (old part).
