Disconnecting the negative battery cable is not recommended due to otherwise extensive reprogramming requirements. WIRING HARNESSES WILL BE ELECTRICALLY ACTIVE. IT IS THEREFORE NECESSARY TO EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHILE EXECUTING THESE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. FAILURE TO DO SO, COULD RESULT IN SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH FROM ELECTRICAL SHOCK.The ignition and radio power must remain OFF until the final test is performed.

Telephone and CD changer fibers are installed in the vehicle at the factory.
There are two distinctly different fiber optic pairs running from the head unit (radio) to the CD changer and telephone. The telephone pair run down the left side of the vehicle from the head unit to the left rear quarter panel. The CD changer pair run down the right side of the vehicle from the head unit to the right rear quarter panel.
There is an additional single fiber that runs between the CD changer and telephone and along the rear passenger compartment bulkhead between the left and right rear quarter panels.
^ The vehicle is configured at the factory for the CD changer only.
^ Reconfiguration points are located at the CD changer, telephone, and head unit.
^ Paired runs can be used in their existing state if installing only the CD changer or telephone. Reconfiguration is required at all reconfiguration points (head unit, CD, and telephone) if the CD and telephone will be installed.
