D. Installing CD Changer

1. Prepare the CD changer for installation:

a. Remove the three transport screws and install them into the holding positions in the back of the CD changer (Figure 10).

b. Make sure that the suspension spring configuration is set to V (vertical).

c. Affix the three adhesive dust covers over the transport screw holes in the bottom of the CD changer.

2. Remove access cover for the retractable hardtop hydraulic unit in the right rear of the trunk and locate the 3-pole electrical connector and fiber optics.

3. Remove the three trunk trim panel fasteners on the right trim panel and enlarge the holes to a 10 mm diameter.

NOTICE!
Exercise extreme care to prevent drilling into the hardtop control cables and/or hydraulic lines.

4. Install the three threaded inserts into the enlarged holes.

5. Route the 3-pole connector and fiber optic cables out below the trunk right rear trim panel and reinstall the hydraulic unit access cover (Figure 11).

6. Secure the vehicle half of the mounting bracket assembly (angled back) to the vehicle body with three M8 x 12 bolts (Figure 11).

7. Attach the CD changer to the CD mounting bracket with four M4 x 5 machine screws.

Note:
Be sure to position the CD changer so that the eject-button is closest to the rear of the vehicle.

8. Connect the 3-pole electrical and fiber optic connectors to the back of the CD changer.

9. Secure the CD changer sub-assembly to the vehicle side bracket with two M6 x 16 Phillips head screws and plastic caps. Install the screw through the cap base and then screw it into the bracket. Snap the cap onto the cap base (Figure 12).
