Overhaul

DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove selector lever handle (108) as follows:





a. Loosen clamping piece (3) counterclockwise (arrow A)
b. Pull off selector lever handle (1) from selector lever
c. Slide selector lever handle (1) 0ff the selector lever (4) and clamping piece (3) clockwise (arrow B)
2. Unclip cover (109) (arrows)
3. Unclip cap (110) (arrows)
4. Unscrew screw (111)
5. Position selector lever (112) in position D
6. Unclip upper part of bearing bracket (113) (arrows)
7. Remove carrier (129) from upper part of bearing bracket and remove gate guard (130)
8. Remove gear indicator (114)
9. Pull out gear recognition switch (S16/10)
10. Remove shift shaft (116) with intermediate lever (97) completely together and bracket with shift lock (117)
11. Remove shift shaft (116) from bracket with shift lock
12. Remove selector lever with fork end (112a) at the same time remove fuse (112b) and pull out pins (112c)
- The spring (112d) may jump out
13. Unscrew shift detent
14. Remove left bearing bush (122) by removing pins (127) from shift shaft using a press
- Check bearing bushes for wear replace if necessary
15. Remove pin (127) to disconnect shift shaft (116) with intermediate lever (97) from sleeve (137).
16. Remove bracket from right bearing bush (121)
- Check bearing bushes for wear replace if necessary
17. Remove supporting lever (119) by unhooking spring (118) and removing locking device (119a)
18. Remove shift pattern (128) from upper part of bearing bracket by unscrewing hexagon socket screws (123)

INSTALLATION
- Assemble in reverse order, noting the following information:
- Before installing the shift shaft to intermediate lever pin (127) in the shift shaft lubricate pin lightly with long term grease part No. 000 989 63 51, or equivalent
- Grease shift detent balls using long term grease
- Install only preassembled components in lower part of the bearing bracket (11 3a) and grease bearing points
- Install gear recognition switch with lever in position "1"
- In the installed position of the gear recognition switch to the shift shaft the driver (115) must be behind in the direction of travel (arrow)
- Adjust play on shift lock as follows:





a. Place selector lever in position N
b. Using electrical connection set tool No. 201 589 00 99 00, or equivalent, apply battery voltage of 11-14V to adjustment solenoid (Y66/1)
c. Loosen screw (111)
d. Adjust gap dimension "a" between locking lever (125) and cam (124) using adjusting screw (126)
- Dimension "a" specification: 0.20 mm
e. Tighten screw (111)
- Tighten bolt, shift gate to lower section of bearing to: 6 Nm
- Tighten bolt, shift lock bracket to upper section of bearing bracket to: 3.5 Nm
