Steering Arm: Service and Repair
NOTE:
^ Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.
^ Steering knuckle arm cannot be checked, in case of doubt, particularly after accidents, install a new steering knuckle arm.
^ Note code number (arrow) on surface of arm near track arm ball joint hole.
REMOVAL
1. Remove Nut (28a) on steering knuckle arm (29)
- Counterhold the ball pin with an Allen wrench.
- Replace nut (28a).
2. Remove track rod ball joint.
- Force out with puller (040) tool No. 124 589 03 33 00 and thrust piece tool No. 129 589 10 63 00, or equivalents.
- Check rubber boot on ball joint of track rod and replace if damaged.
3. Remove steering knuckle arm bolts (29a and 29b)
4. Remove steering knuckle arm (29).
- Steering knuckle arm (29) cannot be checked, in case of doubt, particularly after accidents, install a new steering knuckle arm.

INSTALLATION
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Check toe-in on front axle at "Wheels, Tires and Alignment". Service and Repair
- Tighten track arm ball joint nut to: 50 Nm
- Tighten steering knuckle arm mounting bolts to: 80 Nm
