AR54.10-P-1030AB Testing Quiescent Current Consumption

Testing Quiescent-Current Consumption

1.1 Open hood and raise to vertical position
1.2 Open side window of right rear door
1.3 Open luggage compartment lid or tailgate
1.4 Remove rear seat bench
1.5 Fold rear seat cushion forwards and remove battery compartment cover
2 Open side windows of front doors
3 Run engine until warm

NOTE: Coolant temperature > 100 degrees C

4 Switch off engine and wait 12 minutes

NOTE:
For Model 129.076
- After the engine has been switched off, the heating water circulation pump is switched on for 10-12 minutes at coolant temperatures > 100 degrees C to cool the engine.
For Model 163
- After the engine has been switched off, the heating water circulation pump is switched on for 10 minutes at coolant temperatures > 100 degrees C to cool the engine.

5.1 Preparing test with quiescent current retention unit

See "Commercially Available Tools" given below.

See "Special Tools" given below.

5.2 Preparing test without quiescent current retention device

See "Commercially Available Tools" given below.

See "Special Tools" given below.

6 Switch off all consumers
e.g.
Withdraw ignition key
Switch off stationary heater
Switch off car phone
Switch off radio
Switch off interior motion sensor
Vanity mirror
Switch off reading light
Turn exterior lamp switch to "0" position. Close doors, interior lights must go out automatically after a few seconds

7 Test quiescent current
- If the total quiescent current does not match the specified value: Determine circuit with excessive quiescent current consumption
- Specified value not achieved: Establish fused components with excessive quiescent current consumption
- Specified value not achieved: Establish unfused components with excessive quiescent current consumption

See "Commercially Available Tools" given below.
