Fuel Rail: Service and Repair


Removing, Installing Fuel Rail With Injectors (ME-SFI)

Removing, installing


DANGER: Risk of explosion from fuel igniting, risk of poisoning from inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin from contact with fuel.

- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.



1 Take off cover on face end of engine


NOTE: Model 129


2 Take off trim panel of cylinder head cover or air cleaner


NOTE: Remove trim panel of cylinder head or air cleaner by pulling it vertically up and off the cylinder head covers.


3 Take off resonance housing (2/1)


NOTE: Only on models fitted with air cleaner at vehicle side.


4 Remove plastic cover


NOTE: Remove screw (1/4).


5 Release fuel pressure through service valve (1/1)


NOTE: Collect fuel!

6 Detach feed line (17/2)


NOTE: Collect fuel!

7 Separate electric plug connection at injector (Y62)
8 Take out screws (17/1), lift fuel rail (17) together with all injectors off the intake manifold


NOTE: Inspect O-rings for damage.


CAUTION: Before installing fuel rail, oil O-rings: Remove, install injectors (ME-SFI)


Inspecting

9 Test fuel injectors (Y62)


NOTE: Refer to DMAN Engine, Volume 4, Index 31/1 ZZZZZZZ


10 Install in the reverse order
