AR01.45-P-7500FD Remove/Install Oil Pan



Remove/install oil pan







DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries.
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. Wear protective gloves, acid-resistant clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.


1 Disconnect ground cable of battery.



2 Remove engine compartment panel (1)
3 Drain and collect engine oil
4 Remove air cleaner (4)

NOTE: Remove air cleaner by lifting vertically up and off the cylinder head covers.

5 Remove viscous fan (2)

NOTE: Right-hand thread.

6 Remove the fan shroud (3).

NOTE: Only on engine 112.
- On models fitted with suction fan, first of all separate the plug connection of the suction fan.

7 Remove hot film mass air flow sensor (5) together with air intake pipe (6)
8 Detach fixtures of ATF lines at bottom part of oil pan (7) and at top part of oil pan (14)
9 Detach ATF lines on right and left at transmission bell

NOTE: Only with engine 113. Collect ATF, place ATF lines to the side and seal connections.

10 Remove oil pan bottom section (7)
11 Separate electric cable at oil level sensor (B40)
12 Unscrew bolts (9) of front engine mounts (10,11) at front axle carrier.
13 Remove oil pipe (8) from oil dipstick

NOTE:
- Remove one bolt at cylinder head cover.
- Remove cable straps at oil pipe (8).
- Installation: Replace sealing ring.

14 Fit on engine supporting frame
15 Raise engine

CAUTION: Ensure that the engine and its attached parts do not touch the body Do not overtension coolant lines!

16 Unscrew bolt (12) of engine mount (11) at engine support.
17 Remove engine mount (11) together with shield (13)

Installation:

CAUTION:
- The anti-twist lock (arrow) at the engine mount (11) must be located in the retaining slot (arrow) of the engine support.
- The recess in the shield (13) must be located in the anti-twist lock of the engine mount (11).


18 Remove oil pan top section (14)
- Take out oil pan to the front in direction of travel for this step; rotate crankshaft slightly, if necessary.

NOTE: Installation:
- Observe different bolt lengths and bolt diameters! Bolt diagram of oil pan
- Clean sealing surfaces, apply sealant to the sealing surfaces with a bead of 2.0 mm ± 0.5 mm. The sealant must be applied within 10 minutes! The silicone bead must not be spread!
- Information on application of sealant to oil pan.

19 Install in the reverse order

DANGER:
- Risk of accident. Accidents may result if the vehicle starts off unintentionally with the engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns.
- Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.


20 Check oil level in automatic transmission and correct if necessary.

NOTE: Only with engine 113.

21 Read diagnostic trouble code memory and erase.
- Stored faults, which can result from removed lines or a simulation during installation or test work, have to be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.

22 Run engine and inspect for leaks.
