Radiator: Service and Repair



Removing and Installing Radiator





1 Remove engine compartment paneling

DANGER:
- Injury hazard to skin and eyes from scalding due to splashing hot coolant. Risk of poisoning when swallowing coolant
- Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 degrees C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.
- Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.


2 Drain coolant at radiator, pour in
3 Remove viscous fan (1)

NOTE: Right-hand thread!

4 Remove fan shroud (2)
- On vehicles with suction fan, first of all separate the connector of the suction fan.

5 Remove cover (3).
6 Detach coolant line (4, 5)
7 Detach coolant line (6, 7)
8 Remove ATF lines (8, 9)

NOTE: Seal connections.

9 Remove bracket (10) of ATF line (8) at radiator (11)
10 Remove clamps (12).
11 Remove upper cross member (13)
12 Remove bracket (14) from supercharger line (15)
13 Unbolt condenser at radiator

NOTE: Big 3 bolts on upper radiator.

14 Unhinge capacitor

NOTE: Installation: Capacitor must be seated in the two retainers (arrow) of the radiator (11).

15 Remove radiator (11)

NOTE: Installation: The studs on the radiator must be located at the bottom in the rubber mounts on the crossmember.

16 Install in the reverse order
17 Check oil level in automatic transmission, adjust to correct level if necessary

DANGER:
- Risk of accident from vehicle starting off when engine is running. Injury hazard from bruises and burns when meshing during starting procedure or when engine is running
- Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving off by itself.
- Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes.
- Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.


18 Inspect cooling system for leaks.
