91-124 Removing And Installing Gear For Seat Height Adjustment, Rear







Installation note







Replace adjustment gears only together with associated bearing block. Moreover, do not mix up left and right sides when installing.
1 Adjustment gear on outside
2 Adjustment gear on inside







Before installing gears, check plastic bushings in seat frame, replace damaged plastic bushings (arrows).







Turn gear spindles on both gears all the way up against the stop. Insert flexible drive shaft on gear, then position gear on seat frame with assembly pin (arrows).







When installing catch bolts observe different lengths, do not cant gear. Do not damage plastic bushings (arrow).

Removal, installation







1 Remove retainer on inside catch bolt.







2 Remove retainer on outside catch bolt.







3 Remove stop cable on outer catch bolt and carefully tilt backrest forward further.
4 Remove catch bolt; do not damage plastic bushing.







5 Remove catch bolt on inside.







6 Remove both gears with bearing brackets and cross member while moving flexible drive shaft out on gear (arrows).







7 Unscrew cross member on bearing brackets (arrows) and remove.







8 Remove plastic cup on bearing bracket.







9 Replace gear with bearing bracket.







10 Grease plastic cup and ball head mount in bearing bracket.
Use MB lubricating paste, part no. 001 989 14 51.
11 Insert cup into bearing bracket, observe catch lug (arrow).







12 Screw cross member into bearing bracket (arrows).
Tightening torque: 2.5 Nm.







13 Screw both gear spindles all the way up against the stop, then install gear on seat frame. Connect flexible drive shaft with gear drive shaft and position gear with assembly pin.
14 Continue to reinstall in opposite order. Observe installation note.
