Removal & Installation of Hydraulic Cylinder For Soft Top Bow

Preliminary work:
Coupe roof removed (See Owner's Manual)
Parcel shelf removed. Service and Repair
Occasional seats removed. [1][2]Procedures
Rear side wall removed






Soft top open
Screws screw out (fig. 1, item 1)
Gasket on B-pillar loosen and remove cover (fig. 1, item 2)
Screw screw out through opening in B-pillar with 5 mm Allen wrench (fig. 2, item 3)

NOTE: Install screw with screw securing agent, part no. 002 989 94 71.

Plug connection disconnect (fig. 3, S84/6x, only when removing left hydraulic cylinder)
Soft top position adjust by hand (fig. 4)






Retaining ring press off (fig. 5, item 4)
Bolt in piston rod remove (fig. 5, item 5)
Hydraulic line on left or right of distributor remove (figs. 6 and 7)

NOTE: It is necessary to plug the hydraulic lines immediately with plugs 129 589 91 07 and the connections with plugs 129 589 00 91 11.

Hydraulic cylinder remove on main bracket from inside of vehicle and lay down in soft top compartment (fig. 8)
Hydraulic lines on hydraulic cylinder remove (fig. 8)

NOTE: Plug the hydraulic lines immediately with plugs 129 589 00 91 07, the connections on the distributors and hydraulic cylinders with plugs 129 589 00 91 11.

Screws screw out (fig. 8, item 8) and remove limit switch (item 9) from hydraulic cylinder

NOTE: Check limit switches after completing vehicle and adjust, if required.

Reinstall in opposite order (observe installation note)
Check for proper function and leakage

Installation note
When installing the hydraulic cylinder pay attention to the code numbers on hydraulic lines as well as the position of the lines in the B-pillar.
