GF42.45-P-4801-04A Rotational Speed and Lateral Acceleration Sensor, Function

GF42.45-P-4801-04A Rotational speed and lateral acceleration sensor, function

General information
The sensors for monitoring yaw rate and lateral acceleration are combined in the yaw and lateral acceleration sensor (B24/115) This reduces the component volume by approximately two thirds. The micro-mechanical sensory system converts the different accelerations of the vehicle around its vertical and lateral axle into signals which can be evaluated electronically by deflecting vibrating masses. signals suitable for assessment. The different types of masses are deflected differently according to the movement of the vehicle (cornering or decelerating).

The electronic analysis system captures these signal changes and passes them to the traction systems control module (N47).

Component Identification:

Function of rotational speed sensor
The movement of the vehicle causes both vibrating bodies to vibrate horizontally. If a rotary motion is superimposed onto this linear movement as a result of the rotary movement of the vehicle (skidding), a force (Orioles force) acts on the vibrating body. The electronic analysis system calculates the corresponding vehicle behavior from the changes in the vibration states.

Component Identification:

Acceleration sensor, function
The electronic analysis system controls the inert masses so that they are held in their initial position. The acceleration is then determined by the voltage required to maintain the initial position during operation.
