Guidance In Digitized MAP Area
When driving within the digitized map area the following information is calculated by the navigation processor (A40/3n2) and is available for the driver:
- Current position and route of vehicle on digital map (illustrated graphically)
- Route list
- Distance to destination and estimated time of arrival
- Driving direction recommendation
- Driving direction arrow
- Name of street on which vehicle is presently driving
- Name of street at which vehicle is to turn next
- Distance to next turning point (specified in units of length or as beam diagram)
The graphic signals for map display are generated by the navigation processor (A40/3n2). Three types of display are possible:
- Symbolic display (route guidance symbols)
- Map display
- Mixture of map display and symbolic representation
The map scale can be changed in increments (100 m/cm to 500 km/cm). Moreover, it is possible to select whether the map is to be aligned in the direction the vehicle is driving (head-up) or to the north (north-up).
The actual guidance is supported significantly by the voice output.
