Using Mechanical Gauges






NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

INSPECTION
1. Refer to Prerequisites For Vehicle Level Measurements.
- After repair work, move the vehicle up and down vigorously several times prior to measurement.
2. Check vehicle level at front axle.
- Insert measuring device (01) tool No. 201 589 00 21 00, or equivalent between the fixing bolts of the wishbone mount
- Position contact arm of measuring device (01) on the wishbone and read off the plumb value of vehicle level, viewed from the center of the vehicle.
3. Check vehicle level at rear axle.
- Place the swivel arm of the measuring device (02) tool No. 201 589 01 21 00, or equivalent, on the inside of the spring link.
- Position contact arm on the rear axle shaft and read off the plumb value of vehicle level, viewed from the center of the vehicle.
- On vehicles with Acceleration Slip Regulation (ASR), remove bracket (52a) on the spring link.

ADJUSTMENT
Vehicle level outside tolerance at front or rear axle.
- Adjust vehicle level by changing the springs or spring rubber mounts. Adjustments

NOTE: On vehicles with level control and not to specification, corrections must NOT be made by modifying the connecting rod for the level control (control Point)

SPECIFICATIONS
Standard Suspension
Front: +30 ± (-15 / +10)mm (+6.4 (-2.2 / +1.4)°)
Rear: +20 ± 10 mm (+1.8 ±1°)

Sport Suspension
Front: +4 ± (-15 / +10)mm (+2.6 (-2.2 / +1.4)°)
Rear: -5 ± 10 mm (-0.9 ±1°)
