Check And Adjust Control Point For Level Control
NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.INSPECTION
1. Check and adjust vehicle level at front and rear axles
- With Mercedes-Benz mechanical measuring device, refer to Using Mechanical Gauges
- With electronic inclination measuring instrument, refer to Using Electronic Gauges
2. Check oil level in level control.
- Correct level, if necessary
3. Pull down the rear end of the vehicle to the specified control point (simulate loading condition) and place measuring device (02) on the inside of the spring link.
- Attach angled retainer (040i) tool No. 202 589 00 63 00, or equivalent, to the rear mount of the rear axle carrier and secure with pin.
- Engage pulling device tool No. 210 589 11 31 00, or equivalent, with the chains tool No. 124 589 20 63 00, or equivalent, in the angled retainer (040i).
- Scan the control point on the rear axle
ADJUSTMENT
Push a suitable 4 mm diameter alignment tool (015) through the hole (arrow) in the adjusting lever (3a) of the level controller (3) and withdraw
NOTE: When the adjustment is correct the alignment tool can be pushed into the positioning hole in the level controller.
Loosen connecting rod (55a) lock nuts, and shorten or extend the connecting rod with the adjusting screw until the lever on the level controller (3a) can be located in the level controller (arrow) using the 4 mm alignment tool.
SPECIFICATIONS
Standard Suspension: 0 ± 10 mm (-0.4 ± 1°)
Sports Suspension: -25 ± 10 mm (-3.1 ± 1°)
