Replacing Rear Axle Spring Actuator (Accumulator)
REMOVAL
WARNING:
^ Risk of injury to the eyes and other parts of the body due to hydraulic oil spraying out under high pressure.
^ Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.
^ Before starting work on the hydraulic system, depressurize the system.
^ Seal open lines with blind plugs
NOTE: Refer to general notes for working on vehicles with level control/ADS. Vehicle Damage Warnings
1. Empty pressure oil system. Emptying And Filling Pressure Oil System
2. Disconnect pressure lines (S1. P4) on spring actuator
NOTE: When removing the left spring actuator, remove the left trunk trim
3. Remove spare wheel cover
4. Unscrew self locking nuts (4f) and spring actuator (4)
- Remove left spring actuator through the trunk
INSTALLATION
- Install in reverse order, noting the following:
- Mount rubber spacer (arrow) on left spring actuator
- Replace self-locking nuts
- Dispose of spring actuator. Disposing of Spring Actuator (Accumulator)
WARNING:
^ Risk of injury when drilling gas-filled components due to excaping gas (not flammable).
^ Eye protection must be worn
- Fill pressure oil system
- Tighten the following components as noted:
- Pressure line of level control/ADS to spring actuator:
- 10 x 1 mm: 14 Nm
- 16 x 1.5 mm: 30 Nm
- Banjo bolt of pressure line, level control on left spring actuator: 50 Nm
