GF42.45-P-4800-01B Function of ESP Rotational Speed Sensor

GF42.45-P-4800-01B Function Of ESP Rotational Speed Sensor
- with CODE (472a) Electronic Stability Program (ESP)

A metallic fork (exciter fork) with quartz oscillators attached to its ends is excited to oscillation by the application of an alternating voltage (reference signal). This oscillation is transmitted to the sensor fork. If the sensor (the vehicle) turns, acceleration forces are produced which cause torsion in the sensor fork. This changes the vibration amplitude measured at the sensor fork. The change in the vibration amplitude is proportional to the yaw rate of the vehicle.

The demodulator compares the exciter fork and the sensor fork. The result of this analysis is the output signal from the yaw rate sensor.
