Design
The occupancy and child seat recognition, front passenger seat (B48) consists of a sensor mat with associated evaluation electronics (2) inserted in the seat area of the front passenger seat.

The sensor mats holds
- membrane pressure sensors (1) for recognition of the front passenger seat occupied as well as
- in each case two sender antennae (5) for child seat recognition.

The track-shaped, pressure sensitive resistance structure stretches over the whole of the seat area. In each case one sender and one receiver antenna has been printed on to the resistance structure in the left and right side of the sensor mat.

This resistance structure, as well as the sender and receiver antennae in the sensor mat, are electrically connected to the evaluation electronics in the front passenger seat, which in turn is connected via a data line to the control module for seat belt tensioning (GUS) with airbag (AB) or restraint systems control module (N2/2 or N2/7).
