Exterior Lighting Module: Description and Operation

The light reminder is intended to prevent the driver from forgetting to switch off the exterior lighting when the vehicle is parked.

When the driver or passenger opens the door (left or right door contact switches 517/3, 517/4 closed) after the key is removed from the steering lock (illumination warning buzzer contact S8/1 closed) a warning tone sounds from the instrument cluster A1 when the high beams, low beams or parking lights are switched on.

The warning buzzer A1h1 in the instrument cluster A1 is connected to negative via the closed left or right door contact switch (517/3 or 517/4) and the closed illumination warning buzzer contact 58/1 The warning tone is switched off when the exterior lighting is switched off or the doors are closed.
