Removing, Installing Front Cover On Cylinder Head

Shown on engine with camshaft adjustment:

1 Remove cylinder head cover

CAUTION:
- Installation: check for leaks with engine running
- Check that gasket of cylinder head cover is correctly located.

2 Remove coolant thermostat housing (30)
3 Unbolt secondary air injection switchover valve (Y32)

NOTE: On engines with secondary air injection

4 Unbolt front cover at top (23), remove

NOTE: On engine 111 with compressor: unplug connector at compressor and bypass flap at front cover for this step. Unbolt bracket of compressor line at front cover.

CAUTION: Installation: clean sealing surfaces. Coat sealing surface of cover (23) to cylinder head with sealant, replace O-ring (3).

5 Install in the reverse order.
