Repairing Connecting Rod






Remove, Install
1 Remove pistons

Inspect
2 Check conrods for blue discoloration, cross scores and notches
- Connecting rods with blue discoloration (caused by bearing damage), with cross scores and notches must no longer be used, Replace conrod and balance out different conrod weights.

3 Screw conrod bearing cap to conrod
- Conrod and conrod bearing caps are marked together and located with two dowel sleeves.
- Tighten conrod bolts to initial tightening torque>

4 Measure conrod bearing basic bore, repair
- If basic bore is conical or if diameter is greater than maximum value, dress conrod bearing cap at its contact surface by max. 0.02 mm.

5 Check conrod bush inside diameter

NOTE: See illustration information.

- In the case of increased wear, Press-fitting new conrod bush

6 Align conrod.
