Function of Opening Trunk Lid With Remote Control Key

When the "open trunk " button is pressed the remote control key transmits a radio frequency and infrared signal to the corresponding receivers in the vehicle. These receive the signals and transfer the contents on to the electronic ignition switch (EIS) control module (N73) as a CAN message. The EIS checks the code for access authorization. If the check indicates that the code is valid, the EIS transmits the command to open the trunk lid to the PSE control module (combined) (A37) via the CAN bus. The PSE control module opens the trunk lid pneumatically as long as the trunk lid lock is not secured by the lock cylinder in the 90° position.
