Unlocking By Opening A Door, Function

The door can always be opened from the inside even when the vehicle is locked centrally. When one of the front doors is opened from the inside, the vehicle is unlocked partially or completely in the following cases.

Door opened shortly after locking
If one of the front doors is opened within 10 seconds after locking with the remote control key, the PSE control module (combined) (A37) unlocks the vehicle pneumatically. If selective unlocking was accomplished before locking, the PSE control module unlocks selectively.

Door opened after locking with remote control key (vehicle unlocked selectively)
1. Inserting remote control key into ignition lock:
the anti-theft alarm (ATA) is deactivated and the interior switch released, however the vehicle is not unlocked.
2a. Opening driver door:
The PSE control module unlocks the vehicle selectively (driver's door and tank flap)
2b. Opening passenger door:
Driver's door and tank flap are unlocked, if the PSE control module was still running a max. of 20 seconds before opening the door.

Door opened after locking with remote control key (vehicle locked globally)
1. Inserting remote control key into ignition lock:
the anti-theft alarm (ATA) is deactivated and the interior switch released, however, the vehicle is not unlocked.
2. Opening driver's or passenger door:
The PSE control module unlocks the entire vehicle pneumatically

Door opened after locking with interior switch or after automatic locking
1. Opening driver's door:
The PSE control module unlocks the entire vehicle pneumatically corresponding to the state before locking, globally or selectively.
2. Opening passenger door:
The PSE control module unlocks the vehicle pneumatically when it was unlocked globally before locking.
If the vehicle was unlocked selectively, only the driver's door and tank flap are unlocked if the PSE control module was still running a max. of 20 seconds before opening the door.

NOTE
- Opening one of the rear doors has no effect on the status of the central locking.
- The vehicle is not unlocked when the vehicle speed is above the threshold for the automatic locking function.
