Function of Central Locking Emergency Opening Features
The emergency opening feature unlocks the vehicle doors following an accident.
A crash sensor is built into the (PSE) control module (combined) (A37). When the vehicle acceleration is greater than 6 g the emergency opening function is actuated. An acceleration value of 6 g corresponds to an impact with a solid wall at a speed of approx. 25 km/h.
After a waiting time of 8 to 11 seconds the PSE control module pneumatically unlocks all of the vehicle doors. Moreover, the remote trunk release switch (S15/1) in the trunk lid lock is released and the remote trunk release switch (N72s15) in the center console is enabled via the CAN bus.
The anti-theft alarm (ATA) is not deactivated!
The emergency opening function is canceled i.e. the vehicle is returned to the previous locking state when circuit 15 off is recognized for at least 2 seconds.
The emergency opening function has priority above all other central locking functions.
