Valve Tappet Check
Checking
1. Remove cylinder head (valve) cover.
2. Rotate engine at crankshaft until cam on compensating element to be inspected (1) is positioned at its base circle
- Cam lobe must face up
3. Use a suitable tool to press compensating element (1) by hand
- Do not use a steel tool.
- Use normal hand force to press compensating element (1).
- If excessive pressure is applied, the compensating element (1) appears to drop but in reality the valve opens.
4. If a compensating element (1) drops in comparison to the other compensating elements (1), replace compensating elements
5. If several compensating element (1) drop:
- Check hydraulic oil supply of cylinder head.
- Check oil circuit
- Clean oil gallery in cylinder head
6. After assembly:
- Check for leaks with engine running
- Check that gasket of cylinder head cover is correctly seated
