The damping force adjustment is controlled in damper valves (Y53, Y54)
A damper valve is installed between the spring strut (5) and its spring actuator (4) at each wheel.
Each damper valve has two electromagnetic valves (y1, y2) which enable four different damping force stages via the adaptive damping system (ADS) control module, depending on the actuation.
The extremely short adjustment time (in the millisecond range) causes an optimum damping force stage to be available almost instantly in the event of sudden changes in the vehicle state, such as a swerving maneuver.
