Removing, Installing and Checking Play Compensator

Version with screw plug (Model 129):




- Unscrew screw plug, screw in, 45 - 55 Nm, replace seal (72).
- Remove compression spring (70), spring pin (69) and bush (68) from steering gear housing, insert.
- Check compression ring (70).
- Examine spring pin (69) for signs of wear, replace, if necessary.

NOTE: The play compensator is only effective in the center area of the steering gear. If a complaint is received about excessive steering play, the steering gear friction torque should be reset. Checking and Adjusting Friction Torque of Steering Gear
