Pneumatic
The headlamp range control on these vehicles is accomplished by vacuum actuated servo elements.
Each of the two headlamp units is equipped with an actuator. The actuator is connected to the hinged reflector by a pull rod. The maximum stroke of the actuator is 3.0 ± 0.2 mm.
Model 202
Since the fog lamp is integrated into the headlamp unit, the range of the fog lamp is also changed when the common reflector for the high/low beam lamps is adjusted.
Models 170.202.210
The control switch located next to the exterior lamp switch S1 on the right is connected to each of the actuators in the headlamp units by a pneumatic line. A third pneumatic line provides vacuum from the intake manifold to the control switch. If a number of vacuum loads are present, the vacuum may also be supplied from an additional vacuum valve block installed on the right side in the component compartment.
Model 129
The pneumatic lines are locked in position on the control switch with quickfit connectors. The control switch, located on the left next to the rotatory light switch, is supplied with vacuum via the vacuum block of the intake manifold.
The control switch is equipped with a shutoff valve to prevent unintentional readjustment of the reflectors in the event of of a vacuum loss.
The control switch has three control positions in addition to the basic position 0. In the basic position 0 the maximum vacuum present on the actuators. In control stages 1, 2 and 3 the vacuum to the actuators is reduced thereby increasing the stroke and the reflectors are tilted downward from the basic position.
