Important Notes on Repair Work and Following Accidents
Use Torx T40 socket bolt attachment for removal and installation of the front seats. Replace damaged screws.
The threads on the seat mounting screws are micro-encapsulated, they must be replaced following disassembly or coated with screw securing agent before screwing in.
After installation of one or both front seats, check the emergency tensioning retractors.
Observe the specified tightening torques on screw connections which are screwed directly into the extruded magnesium parts (see table).
Guide values for screws screwed into extruded magnesium parts:
MA = tightening torque in Nm!
d MA[Nm]
M2.5 0.8
M3 1.4
M3.5 2.1
M4 3.1
M5 6.1
M6 11
M8 17
M10 23
Also always observe the tightening torques for seat attachment parts. The specifications are given in the applicable repair instructions. After an accident check the seat belt system, the seat adjustment mechanism and the backrest lock.
Moreover, visually check the backrest strut and seat frame on the belt buckle side with a check gauge or straightedge. Testing and Inspection
If the backrest strut or seat frame is visibly damaged following an accident, the complete seat frame must be replaced together with the adjusting gears and seat rails.
If the emergency tensioning retractor was activated, replace the seat belt system.
