Front Door Window Glass: Adjustments

72-195 Adjustment Of Crank Windows

Adjustment
1 Loosen guide wedge and press downward.

2 Remove rubber sleeves and loosen nuts (13 mm). Adjust adjustment screw (5.5 mm) so that the guide rails are located in the center of the adjustment screws on the bearing bracket.

3 Adjust window with front and rear guide jaws so that it is centered in and parallel to the window shaft (9 mm in front of inner door panel) in the bottom-most position.

NOTE: The initial tension at the side can be increased by moving the guide jaws upward and reduced by moving them downward.

4 Loosen nut for upper stop bracket at front.

5 Loosen nut for upper stop bracket at rear.

6 Close crank window until front edge of window is flush with rear view mirror mount.

7 If the window is correctly adjusted the upper edge of the pane should contact the inner lip of the sealing frame over the entire length.
8 Tighten nuts on upper stop brackets at front and rear.

NOTE: A correction can be made by moving the rear screw on the window lift guide rail and with the front stop for the upper stroke limitation.

If required the angle and longitudinal position of the window can also be corrected by loosening the three screws on the window lift rail.

9 Tighten front and rear screws on window lift rail.
10 Install sealing rails on inside and outside.

11 Adjust lateral angle (initial tension) of window against sealing frame on coupe roof with adjustment screws on front and rear bearing brackets for vertical guide rail so that the edge of the window just touches the sealing frame with the window closed when the door catches in the first catch of the door lock.

12 Adjust rear guide rail in oblong hole so that the vertical edge of the window contacts the rubber seal over the entire length with the door completely closed.

13 Adjust lower stroke limitation by first adjusting stop on window lift (arrow) and then on window lift rail until upper edge of window closes flush with the sealing rails.

14 Adjust stop on window lift rail so that limit switch S 21/8 or S 21/9 at the bottom in the door recess is actuated simultaneously when the window is opened completely.

15 Adjust guide wedge by moving in oblong hole until the vertical edge of the pane contacts the guide wedge with the window closed.
16 After completing all adjustment work, coat all sliding surfaces on the window guide rails with MB lubricant paste, part no. 000 989 31 51.
