Remove/Install Side Airbag Sensor

WARNING: Observe safety precautions for airbag, side airbag and emergency tensioning retractors.
Technician Safety Information

Procedure
1. Disconnect and cover battery.
2. Remove ignition key.
3. Remove door sill moulding.
4. Fold floor covering back toward front.
5. Disconnect electrical connector [1].
A53 - Side airbag sensor, driver's side (not shown).
A54 - Side airbag sensor, passenger's side.
6. Unscrew mounting screws [2].
7. Remove side airbag sensor.
8. Reverse procedure to install.

Note: The side airbag sensor has an arrow printed on it's case. Depending on which side of the vehicle the sensor is properly located the arrow must point outward. After installing, perform diagnostics.
