Temperature Control

Function
The temperature set on the temperature setting pushbuttons on the pushbutton control module is achieved or held constant by:
- cooling by means of the evaporator
- heating by means of the heater core
- cooling and reheating (reheat mode)

Heating
The heater core heats up the air flowing through on the way through the air ducts into the vehicle passenger compartment. The heat given up by the heater core is regulated by the duovalve controlling the quantity of heated coolant flowing through. The duovalve is controlled by the pushbutton control module.

Cooling
The expansion valve on the evaporator causes the liquid refrigerant under high pressure to expand reducing the pressure. The refrigerant then evaporates. The heat required for evaporation is taken from the air flowing through the evaporator. After cooling in this manner, the air flows through the air ducts into the vehicle passenger compartment.

Reheat mode
The air cooled and dried by the evaporator is reheated in the heater core. This prevents the windows from fogging up on the inside.
