Timing Chain Tensioner

NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

1. Remove oil pan.
2. Remove tension rail.
3. Remove guide rail.





4. Unbolt oil pump drive gear (6) at oil pump (7).
5. Remove oil pump chain (8) and oil pump drive gear (6).

NOTE: Pay attention to installation of oil pump drive gear (6).

6. Pull off tensioning bar (9), bush (10) and spring (13).
7. Remove timing chain (14).
8. Pull off crankshaft sprocket (11) with puller (06).
9. Note the parallel keys (12).
10. Heat the crankshaft sprocket (11).
11. Reverse procedure to install, being sure to tighten the oil pump drive gear (6) at oil pump (7) to 32 Nm.
