Replacing Belt Pulley/Vibration Damper and Integrated Hub
NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.
1. Remove viscous fan clutch.
2. Remove radiator.
3. Attach guard plate to condenser.
- Guard plate for radiator/condenser (approximate size) 400 x 680 x 1 mm
4. Unbolt and lift condenser to enable puller (O5) tool No. 129 589 01 33 00, or equivalent, to be inserted.
5. Turn piston of cylinder 1 to TDC so that woodruff key (7) in crankshaft is facing vertically up.
6. Slacken bolts (15) of fan belt pulley (17).
7. Remove poly V-belt.
8. Remove belt pulley of fan (17) and plate (16).
9. Remove retaining lock for crankshaft/ring gear.
10. Unscrew bolts (5a).
11. Remove belt pulley (5).
12. Unscrew bolt (1) with conical washer (2).
13. Screw in bolt (1).
14. Screw puller tool (05), or equivalent onto vibration damper (6) with M6 x 60 bolts (arrows).
15. Pull off vibration damper (6) with puller (05).
NOTE: Align woodruff key (7), push on hub (6b) and turn in order to determine whether the slot in the crankshaft is aligned with the woodruff key (7).
15. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Tighten the M18 bolt of the vibration damper to 370 Nm
- Tighten the M6 bolts of the belt pulley to 10 Nm
- Tighten bolts (5a) to 15 Nm
- Tighten bolts (15) of the fan belt pulley to 15 Nm
