Checking Conrod Bolts

Stretch Shank Bolt (2nd Version)
1. Reuse conrod bolts up to minimum stretch shaft diameter or up to maximum stretch shaft length.

NOTE: Re-use conrod bolt up to maximum length of 52.9 mm





Bolt Dimensions:
- Thread Diameter "d": 9x1 mm
- Length "L": 52-0,3 mm
2. Pay attention to weight differences.
3. Oil thread and bolt head contact surface before installing.

NOTE: Thread and contact surface of bolt must be moistened with engine oil when installing.

4. Tighten conrod bolts initially with torque wrench.
- Initial Torque:
New bolt: 40 Nm
Re-used bolt: 30 Nm
- Tightening angle: 90-100°
5. Tighten conrod bolts with tightening angle wrench. Pay attention to tightening torques.

CAUTION:
^ The conrod bolts differ in weight.
^ Only identical conrod bolts may be installed in an engine.

NOTE: If no tightening angle wrench is available, the conned bolt can be tightened further with a socket wrench and tommy bar by the specified angle in a single tightening operation. A flexi-rod torque wrench must not be used for tightening to degrees of angle in order to avoid angle errors.

Stretch Shank Bolt (3rd Version)
1. Reuse conrod bolts up to minimum stretch shaft diameter or up to maximum stretch shaft length.

NOTE: Re-use conrod bolt up to maximum length of 52.9 mm





Bolt Dimensions:
- Thread Diameter "d": 9x1 mm
- Length "L": 52-0,3 mm
2. Pay attention to weight differences.
3. Oil thread and bolt head contact surface before installing.

NOTE: Thread and contact surface of bolt must be moistened with engine oil when installing.

4. Tighten conrod bolts initially with torque wrench.
- Initial Torque:
New bolt: 40 Nm
Re-used bolt: 30 Nm
- Tightening angle: 90-100°
5. Tighten conrod bolts with tightening angle wrench. Pay attention to tightening torques.

CAUTION:
^ The conrod bolts differ in weight.
