Front Door Latch: Service and Repair

Preliminary work:
Door liner removed on driver's door.
Exterior door handle removed on driver's door.





Vapor seal on interior door panel
remove.
Crank window
close.
Door sealing frame
pull out of groove in area of door lock.
Linkage for interior door actuation (1), lock (2) and central locking element on door lock (5)
remove or unhook.
Electrical plug connector on door lock
disconnect (arrow).
Window guide rail (3)
remove (2 screws, 1 nut). Insert slider when installing.
Door lock cover (4)
remove (1 screw).
Screw for door lock (5)
screw out, when installing first tighten the screws on the front. 8 Nm
Door lock (5)
remove through installation opening.
Reinstall
in opposite order.
After installing door handle
adjust play (Items 8-9). Refer to "Replacing Exterior Door Handle on Front Door". Service and Repair

Removal, Installation





1 Pull off vapor seal on interior door panel.
2 Close crank window.
3 Pull sealing frame out of groove in area of door lock.





4 Remove or unhook linkage for interior door actuation (1), lock (2) and central locking element (3) on door lock.
5 Disconnect electrical connection on door lock (arrow).





6 Screw out screws on window guide rail at top (arrows).





7 Screw out nut (arrow) at bottom of window guide rail.
8 Remove window guide rail through installation opening.





9 Screw out mounting screw for lock cover, unclip lock cover and remove (arrows).









10 Screw out screw (arrows) on door lock.
Tightening torque: 8 Nm





11 Remove door lock (5) through installation opening in interior door panel.
12 Reinstall in opposite order. After installing adjust door handle play (Items 8-9). Refer to "Replacing Exterior Door Handle on Front Door". Service and Repair
