AR41.10-P-0086A Measure Propeller Shaft Alignment With Electronic Angle Meter

Measuring Propeller Shaft Alignment With Electronic Propeller Shaft Articulation Angle Meter
- with transmission 716

CAUTION:
- The vehicle must be standing on its wheels for the measurement
- Transmission suspension and exhaust system must not be under stress when the articulation angle is measured
- Relieve the stress if necessary

NOTE: Complaints about drive train vibrations or uneven acceleration may be caused by a deviation of the propeller shaft articulation angle from the specified value

1.1 Remove bottom section of soundproofing capsule
- Model 210, vehicles with diesel engines
1.2 Remove bottom engine compartment panel
- Models 208, 210, vehicles with gasoline engines Model 170
2 Prepare electronic propeller shaft articulation angle meter
3 If necessary, adjust propeller shaft articulation angle meter

NOTE: See device operating instructions for information about adjusting meter The articulation angle can be measured using two different meters.

4 Measure absolute angle at transmission
- Vehicles with manual transmission or automated manual transmission (ASG)
5 Measure absolute angle at front and rear propeller shaft
6 Measure absolute angle at rear axle housing
7 Read out front (angle 1), center (angle 2) and rear (angle 3) articulation angles from memory of electronic propeller shaft articulation angle meter and correct if necessary

NOTE: If the articulation angle requires correction, perform necessary assembly work.

- Front articulation angle from transmission to front propeller shaft (angle 1)
- Center articulation angle from front propeller shaft to rear propeller shaft (angle 2)
- Rear articulation angle from rear propeller shaft to rear axle center assembly (angle 3)

NOTE: Carry out a check measurement again each time the articulation angle is corrected.
