Remove/Install Propeller Shaft
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect or unscrew suspension (105g, 105h) on middle or rear muffler of exhaust system (105)
- Lower exhaust system at rear muffler and support.
2. Remove exhaust heat shield (105c)
3. Remove reinforcement brace (34)
4. Remove bracket (127) for seat belt fastening
5. Remove bolts for the front propeller shaft (1a) from transmission
- The flexible disk remains on the propeller shaft.
6. Remove bolts for the rear propeller shaft (2) from rear axle center assembly
- The flexible disk remains on the propeller shaft
7. Using a shop made drift, loosen fitted sleeves of flexible disks
8. Unscrew bolts (7a) of propeller shaft intermediate bearing
- Support propeller shaft
9. Pull propeller shaft off centering journal on transmission and off rear axle and remove downwards
10. Separate front and rear propeller shafts, if necessary
- Note position of alignment marks (raised humps) on shafts, place matchmarks if required.
11. Check flexible disks, vibration dampers, centering sleeves and propeller shaft intermediate bearing for wear or damage
- Replace worn or damaged components as necessary
INSTALLATION
- Install in reverse sequence, noting the following information:
