Purpose

Purpose: The rear side airbags protect the chest and head of the affected rear passengers against injury in the area of the door, as well as B and C-pillars, in the event of a side collision.
Moreover, the side airbag reduces the oscillating motion of the head relevant to injury.

NOTE: In the event of a side collision, the rear side airbag is actuated simultaneously with the front side airbag and window bag.

Design: The rear side airbags consist of a gas generator with squib and an airbag. The airbags consist of uncoated, recyclable polyamide fabric. They have an inflated volume of 16 liters.
