Check And Adjust Control Point For Level Control

NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

INSPECTION
1. Check and adjust vehicle level at front and rear axles
- With Mercedes-Benz mechanical measuring device.
- With electronic inclination measuring instrument.
2. Check oil level in level control.





3. Pull down rear of vehicle to the specified control point (simulate loading condition) as follows:
- Hook pulling device (040b) tool No. 201 589 11 31 00 with mounting pin (040g) onto frame floor next to the rear mount of the rear axle carrier and lock (arrows).
- If using mechanical gauges, place measuring device (02) tool No. 201 589 01 21 00, or equivalent, on inside of spring link.
- Scan control point with contact arm on he rear axle shaft.

ADJUSTMENT





Push in, then pull out a suitable 4 mm diameter alignment tool through the bore (arrow) in adjusting lever (3a) of level control (3).
- When the adjustment is correct, the alignment tool can be pushed into the positioning bore in the level controller.
- If the adjustment is defective, loosen adjuster of connecting rod (55a).
- Fix adjusting lever (3a) of level controller (3) in position with 4 mm alignment tool through the bore (arrow) and tighten connecting rod adjuster in this position.

SPECIFICATIONS
Control point of level control:
Standard Suspension: -8 ± 10 mm (-1.9° ± 1°)
Sports Suspension: -25 ± 10 mm (-3.6° ± 1°)
