Fuel Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation
Position/design
Position
Integrated in IFI electrohydraulic shutoff
Task
Detecting fuel temperature for calculating fuel density and passing signal to the IFI control module (N3/7).
Supplying substitute signal in the event of coolant temperature sensor (B 11/4) failing
Function
The NTC resistor integrated in the fuel temperature sensor (Y1/1b1) alters its electrical resistance in line with the fuel temperature.
NTC means negative temperature coefficient, i.e. the electrical resistance drops as the temperature rises
Example:
Fuel temperature Resistance
20 °C approx. 2500 ohm
40 °C approx. 1170 ohm
