Function
MODEL 210 with CODE (292) Front left and right side airbags
The side airbag is triggered as soon as the associated sensor below the left or right front seat (A53, A54) recognizes a side collision.
The sensor first starts a logic check in the ETR control module with airbag (N2/2) then the ETR control module with airbag (N2/2) sends a signal to trip the side airbag to the side airbag squibs (R12/9, R12/10).
On vehicles with OSR or ACSR a check is made whether the passenger seat is occupied.
If the passenger seat is not occupied or a child seat is not recognized the side airbag on the passenger side is not triggered.
MODEL 210 with CODE (290) Window airbag
MODEL 210 with CODE (293) Left and right rear side airbags
MODEL 210 as of 1.6.98 with CODE (491) (USA) version
Model 210 Shown:
In the event of a side collision the acceleration values from the left side airbag sensor (A53/1) or right side airbag sensor (A54/1) are checked by the airbag control module (N2/7) and, if plausible, the squibs for the side airbags and window airbags on the affected side of the vehicle are triggered.
In the event of a side collision from the left, the squibs for the left front side airbag (R12/20), left rear side airbag (R12/11) and left window airbag (R12/22) are triggered simultaneously. In the event of a side collision from the right the squibs for the right front side airbag (R12/21), right rear side airbag (R12/12), right window airbag (R12/23) are triggered simultaneously.
On vehicles with front passenger seat occupied recognition sensor with automatic child seat recognition (B48) a check is made whether the front passenger seat is occupied.
If the front passenger seat is not occupied the side airbag on the front passenger side is not actuated. This also applies when a child seat with transponder is mounted on the front passenger seat, which is recognized by the control module, however, whose values are not programmed.
