IFI Maximum Engine Speed Limitation Task/Design/Function

Design

Task
Limiting maximum engine speed.

Function
The IFI control module (N3/7) detects engine speed through the IFI/DFI crankshaft position sensor (L5/6) and limits this to about 5400 rpm or 5300 rpm in the case of engine 606.961/962 (at no load) through the fuel metering control (Y23/1) and the fuel rack.

Drive train protection
The quantity injected is reduced if the following operating states exist as a protection for the engine and the drive train:
- Each time the engine is started for as long as the clutch pedal has not been depressed
- When the clutch pedal is depressed
- When the clutch pedal is depressed and vehicle speed is < 10 km/h

Engine speed limitation is performed by the IFI control module (N3/7) and is limited to 3500 rpm.
The following information is processed for this purpose:
- Engine speed
- Clutch pedal switch (S40/3)
