Exhaust Gas Recirculation Task/Function
Task
Reducing the oxides of nitrogen (NOx), the hydrocarbons (HC) and the particulates (PM).
Function
The exhaust gases are recirculated in line with the map stored in the IFI control module (N3/7) as soon as the following criteria are met:
- Coolant temperature between 60 °C and 110 °C
- Battery voltage 11 - 14 V
- Engine speed < 3000 rpm
- Fuel rack travel < 9 mm
No exhaust gas is recirculated in the CT and WOT positions
The IFI control module (N3/7) calculates the appropriate quantity of exhaust gases to be recirculated for the particular operating state on the basis of the input signals. The quantity of exhaust gases which are recirculated is set in this way in each operating point so as to achieve the maximum possible reduction of NOx. The EGR vacuum transducer (Y31/1) is actuated at the ground side and regulates the vacuum to the EGR left sensor (B28/3) in model 140, or the the EGR valve in model 210, as a result of which these are opened.
