Vehicles with ESP

Task
To record the yaw rate of the vehicle about the perpendicular axis (skid motion)

Function
A metallic fork (excitation fork). With quartz attached to its ends, is excited to vibrate by applying an alternating voltage (reference signal). This vibration is transmitted to the pickup fork. If the sensor (the vehicle) turns. acceleration forces occur which cause the pickup fork to twist. This changes the vibration amplitude which is measured at the pickup fork, with the change in vibration amplitude proportionate to the yaw rate of the vehicle.

The comparison between the excitation fork and pickup fork takes place in the demodulation. The result of this evaluation is the output signal of the yaw rate sensor.
