Measuring Oil Pressure
Preparation
1. Remove supercharger charge air pipe on engine 111.975 (C230 Kompressor), or if determined to be necessary for access.
2. Remove oil filter element, replace
3. Screw in oil filter cap with test connection (4)
4. Connect oil pressure gauge (1)
5. Connect pressure pipe (3) to oil filter cap (4) and close T valve (2).
6. If previously removed, install charge air pipe of compressor (5)
7. Check oil level of engine
- Adjust to correct level, if necessary
8. Connect remote thermometer (9)
- Insert temperature sensor through dipstick guide tube (10) into the engine oil.
WARNING:
^ Risk of accident as a result of vehicle starting off when engine running.
^ Risk of injury as a result of bruises and burns if you insert your hands into engine when it is being started or when it is running.
^ Secure vehicle to prevent it starting off.
^ Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes.
^ Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
^ Hazard from touching parts conducting high voltages
^ Do not touch parts conveying high voltages.
^ Persons who are provided with electronic implants (eg. heart pacemakers) must not carry out any work on the ignition system.
Measure Oil Pressure
- Warm engine up to operating temperature (about 90°C).
- When engine oil is at normal operating temperature, the oil pressure at idle speed must not drop below 0.3 bar.
- When the accelerator is depressed, the oil pressure must immediately rise and reach at least 3 bar at an engine speed of 3000 rpm.
Installation
Install in the reverse order
