AR05.30-P-3731B Check/Remove/Install Valve Guides

Checking, Removing And Installing Valve Guides






1 Remove cylinder head
2 Remove valves
3 Knock out valve guide (54)

NOTE: The valve guides (54) of the outlet and inlet sides are identical.

4 Measure valve guide outside diameter

NOTE: Measure with an outside micrometer and determine which valve guide was built-in, according to the built-in valve guide install the next larger valve guide, for this step, Ream basic bore to standard size or Valve guide basic bore in cylinder head.

CAUTION: Standard size valve guides are not supplied as replacement part, as the overlap would not be sufficient if they are reinstalled.

5 Insert valve guide, inspect
- Valve guide basic bore in cylinder head
- Valve guide outer dia
- Valve guide inner dia
- Valve guide length
- Overlap in cylinder head
- Powdered metal material => 1
- Gray iron material => 2
- Dimension

6 Examine roundness of valve seat machine if necessary
7 Install in the reverse order.
