Thermostat: Service and Repair



Removing And Engine Installing Coolant Thermostat






1 Drain coolant
- at radiator

2 Remove upper front cover
3 Unscrew charge air pipe bracket from cover (27)
- Engine 111.944/975 with aluminum intake manifold

4 Disconnect coolant hoses (2 and 4)
- Check condition of coolant hoses and coolant damps and replace if necessary.

5 Unscrew and remove cover (27) of coolant thermostat housing (30) with coolant thermostat (27a)

CAUTION:
- The coolant thermostat (27a) must not be removed from the cover (27). It will be damaged beyond repair.
- It cannot be re-installed.
- In the event of a repair being necessary the cover (27) is included in the supply of the coolant thermostat (27a).


NOTE: Installation: Replace O-ring (29).

6 Install in reverse order
7 Check cooling system for leaks.
